Girl Scout Advocacy Network

You might ask - just what would Girl Scouts be advocating? There are actually a couple of items of interest.
In celebration of 100 years of Girl Scouting a commerative coin is proposed. With your help legislation could authorize the US Mint to issue such a coin. HR 6404 and S 3539 are bill that would direct the Secretary of Treasury to mint htese coincs. For the bill to pass 290 House cosponsors and 67 Senate cosponsors are needed. 350,000 coins would be minted. A portion of the funds raised from the sale of these coins will go to Girl Scouts.
The second issue is even closer to our pocketbooks - the volunteer mileage reimbursement deduction. It has been at 14 cents almost "forever" (actually since 1997). A number of proposals have emerged, GSUSA supports the GIVE Act (Giving Incentives for Volunteers Everywhere) as proposed (HR 6854, S 3532).
GSUSA is encouraging you to contact your congressmen and take action. Even easier - join the Girl Scouts Advocacy Network to send your message: www.GirlScouts4girls.org.
